Microsoft Research recently released a blog post regarding spacial computing and combining it with VR to bring you a virtual representation of the world your navigating in. In their latest research effort they are letting a person walk the “normal” world, and putting on a VR headset presenting you with a total alternate world. By using spacial computing it will detect pathways and following the movements of the user and present adjustments to the virtual world.
You could imagine that you can just do your daily commute to work but pick a different location on the world to present to you. What a funny world we live in.
Together with this research, they introduced 3 other projects like hand controllers that can mimic force. Like squeezing a lemon in VR and actually feel it in the real world.
